Mudbugs (aka crayfish, crawdads, dinner) inhabit many of the lakes and reservoirs in sw Colorado.  For some odd reason, they tend to grow to incredible sizes, even with the short growing season.  I found these two carcasses on the shore of Totten Reservoir, just outside of Cortez. Mesa Verde Colorado

Mesa Verde Colorado was my destination as I left Austin, TX Saturday, April 5.  It was easy going on day one, with a nice tailwind and gentle rolling vistas.  I hit New Mexico in the late afternoon, and headed northwest from there. I spent the night at Santa Rosa Lake State Park, a beautiful stop

Hill Country Fly Fishing is Colorado bound for the summer!  We will be spending our summer near Durango, and Mesa Verde National Park.  We are looking forward to fishing the Animas, the lower San Juan, Navajo Lake and more.  There are lots of new species to pursue, including northern pike, smallmouth bass, carp, and more
