Winter bass fishing

Published on January 15, 2014, by in lady bird lake.

Winter bass fishing in central TX can be pretty productive.  Our weather is fairly mild, barring the occasional brutal cold front like we had last week.  With day time temps in the 60’s and 70’s, our waters warm rather quickly and the fish remain fairly active.  Lady Bird Lake is in the heart of Austin, and is loaded with bass, sunfish, carp, gar, and more!

Christmas Day was a great day to get out and fish.  I walked along the lake front at Auditorium Shores, tossing a Bitsy Jig “sweetened ” with a Wooly Hawgtail.  Very productive!

This was my second fish of the day!

Number three!

And the finale!  It really doesn’t get much better – sharing Christmas with some great friends and being outdoors!
